Dr. Hou is the Founding Director of the Brain Research Center at the Southern University of Science and Technology ()SUSTech, and is the Executive Director of the SUSTech-UQ (University of Queensland, Australia) Joint Center for Neuroscience & Neural Engineering. He was Principal Investigator and Project Leader of several National Research Council of Canada projects, a Canada-China Joint Health Initiative project and two Canada-British Council Joint Research Projects. Dr. Hou received his doctoral degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Glasgow in 1991, and successfully completing his postdoctoral training at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College, University of London, and at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Bristol. Dr Hou was the Group leader and Senior Research Officer at National Research Council of Canada, and an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Immunology and Microbiology of the University of Ottawa before joining SUSTech.
